Patsy & I asked where the best steak house was in Midland. We were told the Cattle Baron Steak & Seafood so we decided to go there. I knew that George & Laura Bush lived here but never expected to see them. While we were sitting, we noticed George & Laura dining a little ways away. I got out my camera to take a picture. The secret service came over before I got a shot & asked me to put it away. They said that the Bushes were there for a quite dinner. Sadly to say no picture. We got in late so I didn't even get to the boyhood home. We nearly didn't go out to dinner as the wind was terrific - picking up the dust & blowing it around. When we checked in, I commented on the wind. The manager said that it was an ordinary day.
This area is right in the middle of all the oil fields. There are oil pumps everywhere even in the cotton fields. It has bee warm the past 3 days & we have had the air conditioning on. As we were riding, I could smell oil because the air was on. I don't think I would like living down there.
