1st snowfall

This is the 1st significant snowfall that we have had this season. I wish I had had my camera earlier in the day as the snow was very sticky and wet. It draped over the trees and as we were traveling, it looked just like a winter wonderland. I took these a dusk so it doesn't depict the beauty of the day, but I think you get the general idea.
Happy Thanksgiving to all!

Margaret and Mack's visit

Here we see Margaret and Mack as they stop over to visit us on their way to Fort Lauderdale. Again I forgot to bring my camera when we went out for dinner that evening. We found another new place up here. Margaret, Mack and I got the lobster special - 3 lobsters with fries or cold slaw. Patsy got the prime rib. To say the least, I think that we got quite a feed. This was Margaret's first time cracking lobsters. I showed her how to do it and she readily caught on!

This following day we went out to view the sights in the area. This is down at our beach. As you can see, everything is put away for the winter.

Mack grew up in Quebec and vacationed in Maine. One of his haunts was Wells Beach as we see here in this picture.

Another place he vacatined at was Old Orchard Beach and here he is at the Pier. During his hayday, the Pier was the place to be - food, games of chance and dancing with big name bands and singers down on the very end of the Pier - see below.
We drove by the Brunswick Hotel, which I pointed out to him - he didn't remeber it. Once we got down on the beach, he pointed to an area where he used to stay - it was down by the Brunswick. Apparently it was more recognizable from the shore where all the activity was.

Again one of my favorite tourist places is Fort Wiiliams and here we see Portland Headlight, which was commissioned by Pres. George Washington. It is also the most photographed headlight in the world. We even have a replica in Lake Havasu.

This is a view at Portland Headlight showing Portland in the background. In fact the only high rise you can see on the pennisula is the one I used to live in before i moved up here to Standish.

The headlight was erected because the navigation in this area is very dangerous as seen by the shipwreck Christmas Eve, 1800's.
We had dinner at Dimillo's, which is on a boat in Casco Bay. Margaret, Mack and I Have their famous lobster clubs and Patsy had lazy man's lobster.
They left the following morning during the end of the snowstorm. We were lucky; in our area there was very little snow. In fact. our driveway was bare. Other areas in Maine and along the Eastern Seaboard got slammed.

Fall at our house

We now have our everything done at our house and this is a Fall picture. Below I took pictures of the area so that you can see the Fall colors.

This is my favorite - I love the reds.
